On a couple of occasions I attempt to open safari to find the colour wheel spinning. The only way to stop it is to force quit. While the wheel is spinning I get notified that one of the avg link scanner plugins failed. Could these two be connected? I find if I restart the macbook safari works fine again.

How can I stop these random glitches from occuring?

Remove all the 3rd party plug-ins for Safari, and ShapeShifter, and anything else you may have added to 'enhance' your system.

Macbook, Safari - Apple can't even make a browser that runs on their own hardware running their own operating system. And people still buy the junk.

Because Safari is just another garbage from Apple.
