I just bought a MacBookAir and i'm not sure if i should pay for pages and numbers or if i should download one free document application. I do have to work with a program on MAC that will be compatible with office because of my clients. Thank you for you help.

The TextEdit application that came with the Mac can open and save basic Word .doc files. Try the free ones. Libra is probably the better at the moment..

If they do not meet your needs get iWorks (Pages, Numbers)

If that does not meet your needs go for the full Office:

I have used MS-Office for Mac, Pages, Libre Office, Neo-Office, Google Docs, and Open Office 3. In my experience, the free stuff is as good as the "Pay through the nose" stuff.

I now use Open Office 3 daily, and have done so, for the last 8 years on Windows, Linux and OS X. I wish I'd saved my money, but iWorks is a very interesting PAID alternative to MS-Office. And TextEdit is a good free option, too.

TIP: Just remember to change Open Office's Preferences > Load/Save... to always open, edit and save files in MS-Word file format (".doc").

transformations are not that super, yet with Microsoft place of work you get Excel etc it rather is in wider use and subsequently the possibility that in case you get a document from somebody or decide directly to furnish him a document and those may well be used by way of one yet another is greater. in spite of that don't provide funds to a business enterprise like Apple, their hardware is made by way of foxcon the worst business enterprise with the backside high quality interior the full marketplace, in spite of that they overcharge their stuff to hell and a very good sort of the time you even get previous hardware in case you do not pay much extra.
