Girlfriend Software
Last year, my best-friend upgraded his GirlFriend v3.1 to GirlFriendPlus v1.0 (marketing name: Fiancée v1.0).
Recently he upgraded Fiancée v1.0 to Wife v1.0 and it's a memory hogger, has taken all his space, and Wife v1.0 must be running before he can do anything.
Although he didn't ask for them, Wife v1.0 came with Plug-ins such as MotherInlaw v1.0 and BrotherInLaw v1.0
Some features I'd like to see in the upcoming Girlfriend v4.0
* A "Don't remind me again" button.
* Minimise button.
* Shutdown button.
* An install shield feature so that Girlfriend v4.0 can be completely uninstalled if so desired. (and you don't lose cache and other objects).
I once tried running Girlfriend v2.0 with Girlfriend v1.0 still installed. They tried using the same I/O port and conflicted. I Then tried to uninstall Girlfriend v1.0 but it didn't have an uninstall program. I tried to uninstall it by hand, but it put files in my system directory.
Another think that sucks - In all versions of Girlfriend that I've used is its total "object-oriented" design and only supports hardware with gold-plated contracts.
Bug Warning
Wife v1.0 has and undocumented bug. If you try to install Mistress v1.1 before uninstalling Wife v1.0, Wife v1.0 will delete MSMoney files before doing the uninstall itself. Then Mistress v1.1 will refuse to install, claiming insufficient resources.
Boyfriend v1.0 is a very similar piece of software, and can be upgraded to Husband v1.0 if desired. However, it has the following additional features:
* A background process which switches on the TV. Pity it works only when football matches are transmitted and there's no way to change channels.
* An unique exercise toolbox that generates on the floor piles of shirts to be ironed and socks to be washed.
Known bugs:
* Its internal clock stops working properly (it inevitably slows down) whenever appointment.exe is running.
* It might suspend all processes and/or even go into segmentation fault if the files HOUSE.CFG and LAWN.CFG need maintenance.
Cautions and warnings:
* You might get electrocuted by it if you try to install Lover v*.*. This holds especially for Italian, Spanish and Greek versions of the software.
