Just Install my XP Home but immediately I have receive a Registry Error message from the Messenger Service.?

Question

Why immediately after installing my Window XP Home, i receieved the Window Registry error message? It is very annoying as it continuously pops up and ask me to go to download some pay software i.e. Regetry Clean or Regwinclean.

I installed Advance Registry Optimizer but later i was told the window registry has change the system clock trying to defeat the Registry cleaner. Now it is no longer work.

Any free Registry Cleaning software reccomandation? What is registry anyway????? Please HELP!!!!

your computer is infected, because you are connected to the Internet without a firewall.

If you want to fix that do the following:

Disconnect to the Internet.

I'm assuming you don't have XP SP2, or that wouldn't happen.

Go to Control Panel, Network Connections, [right-click] the connection you use, [menu] Properties, [tab] Advanced, and tick the box that says 'protect my computer ...', click OK.

Now your computer is still infected with ad-aware.

Connect to the Internet

Go to:

Download Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06

Install it and perform a full scan. This should clean your computer.

Then goto

and get all the updates microsoft tells you to! this might take a few hours ...

After that get a firewall and antivirus !!!

Sounds like you need to install a firewall on your PC, especially if you have a fast connection such as DSL or Cable Internet. Ignore this popup, it's a scam and they just want your money. You also need to have an ad-aware program. That's what will stop these ads or ads from popping up. There are some free software programs but you will have to do a search on Yahoo or Google. I recommend that you go to your local PC store and buy one instead of downloading it from the internet.



First look at the free version of Zone Alarm made by Zone Labs and the other program I recommend is Norton Utilities.

Disable messenger service. You don't really need it. It's for communication between clients and servers. Go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services. Scroll down to Messenger and double-click it. A properties box pops up where you can disable the service under "Startup Type". What's happening is a program is running on a web server somewhere and they are merely sending messages to random IP numbers, hoping that somebody has the Messenger Service running. You can also block the port number with your router or Windows firewall. Messenger port info: NetBIOS Datagram Service, UDP-port 138. Disabling it is a better resolution.
