toshiba satellite L505D-S5983

first, sp1 would not install
now, it installs but fails to configure on restart

error codes recieved:
80070002
currently 800f0826

every other update installs successfully
i am computer savvy but cannot figure it out
i ran chkdsk, sfc/scannow, disk cleanup, troubleshooters, cleared the log files softwaredistribution file, ran an antivirus scan, registry cleaner, updated drivers, etc.

my computer is PERFECT
no virus
no disk errors
no system errors
updated with the latest software drivers and firmware

ran the system update readiness tool
it installs hotfix KB947821 over and over again
i have multiple instances of it successfully being installed over and over

nothing works

even uninstalled my antivirus and ran a clean reboot before installing
i also have very few programs installed and plenty of disk space (over 260GB)
all programs are certificate verified name brand programs

WILL install
WONT configure

gets to 4-5% then fails

very irritating.
any causes, solutions, tips, success stories, or feedback greatly appreciated =)

For successful download and installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Microsoft has already left a registry key as: WindowsUpdate\Win7SP1\SPORTM.

I really like Sony notebooks. They are very reliable and fast! However, they can be a little expensive. I suggest buying a refurbished Sony Vaio notebook. Dell is pretty good too. Most computers last a long time anyway, as long as you don't put too much on the computer. Usually you can find pretty cheap computers with Dell. The Inspirons are pretty good. I really like the GPS's, but they're kind of expensive. Just browse around online. I hope this helps..

Hello,

If you receive Windows Update error 80070002 while checking for updates, you need to remove the temporary update files that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To remove the temporary files, stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and then try to check for Windows updates again.

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers,

Jason
