Hello there everyone, I have a little annoyance regarding icon placement on my Windows Vista Home Premium Computer.
Normally I would not mess with the icon arrangement but as of late I have placed my desktop wallpaper as one of my favorite people (Emma Watson) and the icons block her. I can move the icons manually but if Windows turns off and then on the icons are in the default position. Like I said this is only a minor annoyance but any help would be quite appreciated. (I normally hope this goes without saying but I have seen that it doesn't: Please don't post any worthless comments like "Sorry I don't know" or "Emma Watson? She -insert opinion here-" Thanks in advanced guys.

While my desktop does not include Emma Watson, I had the same problem. About a week after I got Vista I did away with my desktop icons by right clicking then hitting view>uncheck desktop icons. Since I love the convenience of shortcuts and such I downloaded the "Rocket Dock" application, which is basically the same as the Mac OS 10 leopard dock. Then i placed all of my frequently used icons on the dock.

she might be playing a prank on you. right click the desktop (where the icons should be), go to view, and check that show desktop icons are checked if it isn't: click it, and it will check if they are: open the start (the little flag at the bottom of the screen, and drag a few icons onto your desktop

When you turn off your computer it isn't saving your settings. I don't know why. Is it your personal computer or is it a work computer because if it is a work computer then it probably is set to put them back.
