I have finally made the switch from WinXP Pro to Ubuntu/Fedora! :D However, I want to be able to sync my beloved iPod Touch, which, according to the back of the case that the iPod came in, requires iTunes 8 or later. And of course, being the Music Nazi that Apple is, there isn't an authorized version of iTunes 10 for Linux. iTunes says it requires Windows XP SP3, Vista, or 7, or Mac OS X x10.4.10. I don't want a Windows computer anymore, and I certainly don't have the money or CPU requirements to get a Mac or (current) Mac Operating System. So, my question to you is this: Is there a way I can install iTunes on any platform of Linux? Thanks :) Kaleb

which linux do you have ?

fedora linux or ubuntu linux ?

you do not need itunes to sync an ipod,

but knowing which version of linux you have will help

just as a note - ubuntu and fedora are both community linux,

they are also both commercial - as you can pay for support if you want,

same with debian, mint - and the linux i use, mandriva

gtkpod - its in your repo's, or it should be in your fedora repo's as its available as an rpm

For a start you have picked the Linux Commercial Distributions. You need to pick a Community distribution something like Ultimate Edition, Linux Mint or Sabayon which on not controlled by commercial companies,

Mac Operating System is BSD developed from FreeBSD (Free Open Source Software) You can sync iTunes iPods iPads, iPhones with Linux That's the whole idea with Linux nothing is out of reach,

People don't understand that a computer is a machine capable of running any and all operating systems. They are taken in by companies like Apple Mac and MS who program their operating systems to do what they want it to do, to gain control over the users.

Some commercial Linux companies are trying on the same thing by gaining control over their users, Google is one of the major offenders with their operating systems, so don't be taken in by Linux commercial companies, Stick with the community distribution everything works out of the box with them.

Hey there,

iTunes is an audio and video player that lets you manage your iOS devices as well as download content from the iTunes store.

I found a free download of it here http://j.mp/1rt6dVy
