If you are working in any version of PowerPoint before 2010, pictures do not link, so they will send with your PowerPoint. (If you dragged and dropped from the internet instead of saving the pictures and then inserting them - you could have trouble, but you'd have the same trouble any way you moved the file). 2010 has an option as you insert the pictures to insert as an image or a link or both. The default is as an image, so, again, you should be okay. Sound files and videos are another story. Prior to 2010, they only link. In 2010, you can embed them.

Ok this is simple solution..
You are trying to save file as with .PPS Extension
So once they receive file they are unable to open it for editing because its automatically runs.
Let them know ...
Open Powerpoint software first then open file from File >> Open menu
Or you can save this file as .PPT extantion and send it to them

Think that's down to their email account, whether they can open it in the web browser instead of in MS Powerpoint, if you get me.
Why is it so important that it runs straight away? Just send it as a .ppt file, and instruct them how to open and use.

The best way I can think is to archive it into a zip or rar file and then send it life a single file to another computer that has the necessary hardware to open it.

Try having them just save it instead of opening it. Once they have saved it they can then open it up in Powerpoint.

Well, rename your presentation from .ppt to .pps. And then send it to your friend.
