I want to erase read only files from my CD-R disk and I know how to go to the properties and uncheck read only and its supposed to work. But It keeps saying *Access Denied* and resets to read only again. I am a computer admin so I have no idea what's going on? Is it really impossible to erase read only files from a CD-R?

It's a CD-R, not CD-RW. Once it's written, that's it. No more changes.

You can't change anything on a CD-R disk since it is a write only disk. That is why the files stay as read only. It would have to be a CD-RW disk for you to alter the files.

CD-R

The R means READ as in read-only.

You cannot delete files on a read-only CD.

You cannot edit anything on a CD-R disc, it can only be written on. You cannot erase/modify data thats already on it. On a CD-RW you can.

Yes.

You can delete files on a CD-RW disk but not a CD-R disk.
