I hate to hear that, because I'm an Opera user and I encourage everyone to use it. It's normally pretty much trouble free.

Try this. This is for XP, it should work the same in Vista, but idk I don't use Vista. Uninstall Opera, the delete your profile. To delete the profile, go to C:\Documents and Settings\(your name)\Application Data and delete the folder named Opera. While you're at it, go to C:\Program Files and delete any folder you find there named Opera. Then re-install Opera and I hope it works.

If this doesn't work, it's possible they may have released an update with an unnoticed critical bug. If this is the case, I'm sure they'll correct it soon. I suggest you use Opera@USB until they get it worked out. Opera@USB is the portable version of Opera. It's exactly like the regular version except it keeps all it's profile data in it's program folder. All skins and plugins work just like they would with the regular Opera. I have Opera and Opera@USB installed and I actually use the USB version more often than the regular version.

Don't give up on the best browser ever. Firefox get's slower with each version (plus it's for furries) and IE7 is still IE7. Get Opera@USB from here if you need to:

Just extract it to it's own folder anywhere on your hard drive, make your shortcuts and run it from there.

I wouldn't blame Opera for this. It is all Vista's fault. I've been using Opera for years since Win 98 SE, and only now since I bought a PC pre-installed with Vista does now Opera crash on occasion. I use it on my work PC that runs XP and it runs flawlessly. Simply put, Vista is a major memory hog and any third-party software (non-Microsoft) will inevitably have issues. (Even my Winamp will freeze up every now on then on Vista.)

You could do a clean install (deleting all the folders after initial uninstillation), but that may not be enough. The best thing to prevent such crashses is to not have anything else running while surfing with Opera.

You may try shutting off any "auto run" software that starts whenever you turn on your PC.

In Win 9X and XP, one can go to; start, run, and then type msconfig in the run window and hit OK. Once there you can uncheck the startup boxes.

Other than that, email "Opera" or find an online forum for opera users as they may have the same issue and have found the appropriate solution.
