Question:
Windows Live Movie Maker strange problem (Shaky/twitchy video?)?
2011-08-09 07:14:08 UTC
When I started using windows movie maker and making videos, everything was totally fine, but it wasn't working well for long. After a while, I started making more videos and when I previewed each video slide, the videos were shaky/twitchy. I've looked everywhere to see if anybody else had this problem but I cant find any! So I am hoping one of you might have the same problem or you know how to fix this. Also this has nothing to do with a camera by the way, Its just videos i uploaded and trimmed them into another video with music added. Thanks :)

The Preview window is not set to show a smoothly running video product. As you use Movie Maker and start adding effects and transitions, the preview window will "bump" more. I use a couple of other commerical (cost $$) video editing programs and their preview windows also leave a lot to be desired. Videos and video editing software use an incredible amount of disk space and computer resources. The cleaner and emptier your computer is, the better they work. Also, shorter videos are easier on computer resources and their editing tends to go more smoothly than that of larger videos.

The published/rendered video shouldn't show the same twitching the Preview window does. Using a small, sample video clip. Add a title and some transitions and effects - do to it what you normally do to a video - preview it and then do a "quickie" publish on it. The published video should not bump, twitch, itch or jump.

There are some digital artifacts (jaggy lines when you draw, bumpy video previews, etc.) that you sometimes just have to get used to and learn to ignore while you're working. OK, this is really easier said than done but a little self-talk ("It doesn't matter." muttered to yourself over and over while you work and the preview drives you crazy) helps a little, but just a little;-)

I had this problem with videos looking fine, but they were shaky when I previewed them in Movie Maker. This is how I fixed it (I use Windows 7): Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager->Display Adapters.

Whatever is listed under "Display Adapters" (mine is Intel(R) HD Graphics), right click on it and choose "Update Driver Software". At first, my computer said it downloaded the software but couldn't open it or some such. I just tried it again (Update Driver Software) and it worked. I had to restart and when I did, shaky problem was gone!

I'm having the same issue. I received a video that was sideways. I rotated it in Movie Maker but then it was jittery/shaky. Even after saving it isn't as bad - but still has issues. Very frustrating!
