Take it from a developer, Windows XP.

Any developer will tell you windows XP out classes 7 by a long shot.

Windows XP uses the least amount of ram and can run video games faster.

The only thing it doesn't support which it's starting to is Direct X 11.( which only Microsoft specific games use, marketing technique sheesh )

Windows XP also cost less memory than 7 and using small programs you can make XP 100x more godlier by customizing it to your liking even changing the desktop button with a resource tuner.

Windows XP is so far and will be for awhile the best OS. Maybe in the future Microsoft will realize Windows XP is their best card and go back to it, however I doubt it.

Another big marketing reason for 7 is due to the eye candy, but with it's eye candy requires high spec computers which end up working as well as models from 2 years ago, rather than how it should due to the OS and its ram hog.

Tada~

I am OK with all 3 and Windows 2000. I have 4 desktops and a laptop. I use them for specific things. One I built and it has Windows 7 in it. One has XP in it. One has Windows 2000 in it. One I can swap out hard drives and run XP or Windows 2000. My laptop has Vista and runs like a champ. For what I do with each computer the OS does what I need it to do and in most instances then some. If you are trying to decide which OS to use in a new rig I would go with Windows 7. Just because it is the newest OS. I am pretty sure support for XP has stopped and Vista will not be supported at some point in time down the road. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

XP - Less resource intensive, on Service Pack 3 and therefore a lot of bug problems have been sorted from its original release.

Vista - Might as well go for Windows 7 as Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer indicated that Windows 7 would be a refined version of Windows Vista.

7 - Future - update on Vista, looks great, visuals far surpass XP but more resource intensive than XP so need an up-to-date computer to get the best out of it. (Less intensive than Visa of course) On SP1 at the moment.

So XP or 7 depending on what you use your computer for.

XP, as it's the operating system i want it as light as possible.

What i really use the pc for really ? the applications !

The day i'll need an application that won't run on XP then i'll use 7.

And no, 7 is not more compatible then XP if like me you have a collection of peripherals like scanner etc for which there's no 7 drivers. or utilities software for that matter.

I used Vista for a while, too many bugs for my liking.

Um for PC's.. probably XP, it's the simplist to use and I'm used to it because the computers at school have XP, well they used to until last week but they upgraded to 7:( It's too trying to be swish.. I don't really like it.

Xp is the most known and best, then its windows 7- it speeds up games, Vista is too heavy for most things and i say it's a piece of crap.

Never used Windows 7 but it looks great! I have windows XP on my PC and school computers. It is easy to use and quite fast.

Vista on the other hand is a pile of crap! Always getting problems and it's really slow!

Windows 7 by a long shot. Hardware and software compatibility better than any other o/s. Ease of use once you learn all the "let's move stuff around just for the sake of moving it" updating!
