Built a brand new PC recently

i5 2500k, p8p67 pro, ocz vertex2 ssd. 8gb corsair xms ram, windows 7 professional

Problem is the boot up times are terrible. I have an ssd that was suppose to help boot up times, but it just sits at the "starting windows" screen for more then 5 minutes sometimes. What is my problem? Any ideas?

Disabling the unwanted services in Windows 7 can really speed up the system boot time.

Problem: There are many services in Windows 7 that we don’t use on daily basis; it would be better for us to disable them.

Solution: Services those you can disable listed below.

1. Application Experience

2. Computer Browser (If you’re not working in network)

3. Desktop Window Manager Session Manager (If you don’t want the aero effects)

4. Diagnostic Policy Service

5. Distributed Link Tracking Client

6. IP Helper

7. Offline Files

8. Portable Device Enumerator Service

9. Print Spooler (Doesn’t have a printer)

10. Protected Storage

11. Remote Registry (You can safely disable it for more Security)

12. Secondary Logon

13. Security Center

14. Server (If you’re not running any network)

15. Tablet PC Input Service

16. TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper

17. Themes ( If you want aero and good visual appearence)

18. Windows Error Reporting Service

19. Windows Media Center Service Launcher

20. Windows Search (If you rarely use Windows Search feature )

21. Windows Time (If you do not wish to synchronize system time with Internet time automatically)

Follow the given instructions in order to disable services:

STEP 1. Open the Control Panel. Find out the Windows 7 Administrative Tools icon. Then, click on Services. Or, you can open the Start Menu and Type in services.msc in the search line. Then, Hit Enter.

STEP 2. In case you get a prompted, click on continue in the UAC prompt. Again, for administrator’s approval you might have to enter the password.

STEP 3. Right click on the service you wish to start or disable. Click on Properties.

STEP 4. Now you can either disable or start a service as per your need.

You need to reboot your system in order to bring changes into effect.

How much crap did you install that loads during boot? I gotta laff at some of my customers when they bring their PC and wonder the same thing an then I find half a dozen messengers, weatherbug, and a couple programs loading at boot.

EDIT: K, how about checking the mobo mfgs support area to see if there is a bios update?

check whether if your ssd is working fine or not....

cross check by putting in a sata 2 hdd and booting from it...

boot into safe mode to check if it is a service not loading proper or not
