Desktop icons disappears in Windows Vista.?

Question

I have Windows Vista and all the icons have got disappeared on the desktop and i'm not able to display the those icons in any way.But sometimes, the icons come up on the desktop surprisingly and then disappear again after sometime. I don't know why does that happen. I checked the "Show Desktop Icons" option in the View menu too but it doesn't work. My desktop wallpaper disappeared too and it just displays the Gray Asus Wallpaper. No matter i change my wallpaper, it disappears again. How can recover my icons and wallpaper ?

right click on the task bar and then click on show the desktop if would appear then !! have fun !! normally i use it like that i dont keep desktop icons on the desktop i keep them hidden
