To all those who repeat vlc like parrots please try this test:
play ANY video file in vlc, and simultaneously play it in windows media player/winamp/powerdvd/jet audio. Compare the same video on the screen (pause it for easy comparison). VLC quality is one of the worst when compared to others (why not try it out just once if you dont believe me.)
Here are the good players for video: Powerdvd - this enhances all video on the screen giving it a luminescent shine. The only drawback are its controls.
JetAudio - very good controls and good clarity in video
Windows media player- this one is ok ok. No speciall controls but if your cd/dvd has any scratches this will get stuck pretty often. Also it eats more memory.
One more very good thing you can do is download K-lite audio codecs, real alternative and quicktime alternative. They will all install on "media player classic" and it is similar to vlc then - it can play many formats and it has a great quality and uses minimum rescources.
Audio- JetAudio is the best. Winamp is close to Jetaudio I would say.
It works well with music files too, though I much prefer iTunes
So, you've pretty much got the best thing already

VLC media player is a good choice.
But I would suggest you to try Windows Essential Media Codec Pack 2.2

unfastened Audio / Video participant : a million.VLC media participant, 2.GOM participant, 3. Winamp, 4.KM participant, 5.actual participant , 6.QuickTime participant etc. the suitable :- VLC for video information,Winamp for audio information.
