When I graph this data table, I am trying to get the "Tube #" to be the line, but instead it constantly comes out on the x-axis. I am trying to get the "wave length (nm)" on the x-axis and the "absorbance level (au)" on the y-axis. I've been working on this graph for an hour, and I've tried to change the data table multiple times in order to get the graph to look like this, though nothing has worked. Can someone please tell me how to set up the data table, or how to tweak the graph, in order to get it to look like this?
I tried to post what the data tables I set up looked like, but the formatting did not work. I wish I could show you

Hi. I am not sure which version you have, so I hope the steps are similar. I have version 2000 and will be using a basic column chart.

1. Insert the chart, go to series tab

2. Click the Add button, name your series 1 au

3. Click in the Values box and highlight the cells for au

4. Look for, and click inside the Category (X) axis labels box

5. Highlight the cells for your nanometers, click OK

Of course you can always tweak the range on your Y axis (au), by clicking on the value axis>format>scale then replace your numbers as far as max., min, major and minor.

I'm sure you already know this but, under chart options you can title your chart and give a name to both x & y axis, and remove the legend as another option.

Hope that helped. If you are still having problems, please feel free to email me as I am always glad to help out.

Take a screenshot (PrtScrn button and paste in an image editor) and post it to an image sharing website like imgur if you can, and add this to your question.

If the chart is giving you separate lines for each series rather than a single one for both, you need to pick an XY (Scatter) chart rather than a Line chart.

Otherwise, your problem likely lies in the Source Data references (what the chart considers to be the rows/columns containing your data and the cells containing label names.

You can show us your issue, just GRAB your screen through paint shop pro or some soft like that, then upload it to some blog.. (DONĀ“T think prtscrn button works any longer....)
