After restart it takes me to a screen that says like: sorry for the incovenience.... then it says safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, restart from your last known good configuration, and start normally. So I try both to start normally and start from last known good configuration but it brings me back to the screen i'm on. Then I try safe mode and a black screen comes up with stuff like: "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\agp440.sys". and things like that. It also comes up like that in safe mode with networking. Please can someone help me with this. I don't know what to do or what is going on. Thanks.

I think you want to try to go to a command prompt in safe mode and type in

SFC /SCANNOW and it do its thing. Maybe it'll work.

If that doesn't, get into safe mode and go to START | RUN

and type msconfig. Then, when the utility comes up. Go to STARTUP and disable every program in your startup. Then, if you get back in to Windows you will know it is one of the startup programs. You can enable each of them one at a time until you find the real culprit.

You probably have a bunch of adware that is blocking your computer from working. I had about 688 spywares on my computer and I had to have a computer geek friend of mine take them all off. If you can ever get back on you should download the free adaware program. Anyone with internet should use this once a week. It gets rid of spyware that even norton does not find and it will help your computer run more efficiently and faster. I hope this hopes.

"ntdetect" If XP won't start it may be due to a damaged boot sector or a missing or corrupt "ntldr" or.com files.

To replace damaged ntldr and ntdetect.com you can copy fresh files from the XP CD using the COPY command. Boot with the XP CD and enter the Recovery Console . At the Command Prompt type the following (where "X" is your CD-Rom drive letter) allowing the files to overwrite the old files

COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:

COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:

To repair a damaged Boot Sector at the command prompt type FIXBOOT and press Enter. Then answer "Y"

2-put ur cd in then let it boot...when options come then press "R" it will lead you to command prompt..and ask for admn password..now just press Enter..dont write any thing..when it lead s u to c:\windows...thne type "help" for command to view ....then do option "1"as above...

3-if u have two operating system at a time then go to other operating system...put XP cd in...open xp cd...copy "hal.dll" download it from http://dll-files.com then put it in "system32" reboot ...its the easiest way if u have other OS as well...all done

What I would do is do a sys. restore to an earlier date.( In system tools).

If you can get into msdos mode (earlier computers), type

in scanreg /restore. Once you get it fixed make sure you

you go into system tools (if you have windows) and create

a restore point. That is the date when you fixed it. Or create a backup disk.

Happened to me! Turns out the inside of my computer was really dirty and one of the fans wasn't working. Cleaned it out, put a new fan in and it worked fine. (just a suggestion)
