Sometimes the file maybe being used by background applications. Try closing every single background application that is running. To do this close all the applications that are running in the toolbar near your clock on your toolbar. You can also go to Start > Search. Then type in your file name and delete everything that comes up pertaining to the file. Then try to delete the file. If that doesn't help, repost more details about the file and I can help you.

This error message is generated when the folder and/or files within the folder are locked because they are being used by Windows or another program. To successfully delete this file, try following the below steps.

*Wait a minute and try deleting the file again, sometimes Windows or the program using the file may still be closing and therefore still using the file you're attempting to delete.

*Locate the program using the file and close it. If you're uncertain which program is using the file, close all programs until you're able to delete the file.

*Reboot the computer. If after closing all programs you're still unable to delete the file, it's likely that something in the background is still using the file.

*If after rebooting the computer you're still unable to delete the file, boot the computer into safe mode and delete the file.

Sometime, you successfully deleted it but what you see is only a ghost of the file. Try to restart your computer & see if u really deleted it. If not, you will be able to delete the file after you started your PC.

Although you are not using this folder, your computer might be. Startup your PC in safemode, (Hold down F8 when computer is booting then choose start in Safe mode) and then try to delete it. make sure all apps are shutdown in your taskbar, those are all running automatically on startup. One of those is probably using a file in the directory you are trying to delete.

I am not 100% sure but try this: Go to the file as though you are going to work on it. Click on "File" then click on "Delete" or..... "Edit" the delete.

Ugh I get that ALL the time.

Did you upload it to any sites?

Did you copy it?

Did you save it as a different name?

When you've deleted EVERYTHING even CLOSE to it, empty your recycling bin and try deleting the folder again.

try rebooting into safe mode and deleting it. When you restart hit F8 and choose safe mode. This usually works.

First of all....if you are sharing your system with other users, dont mess with what you dont know! I hope you arent one of those people who dont recognize a file and decide you dont need it! If you are, GOOD LUCK!
