So already a couple times this week, my Dell PC which I got very recently and came with windows 8 built into it from factory, keeps telling me that it "can't activate windows right now". Now I know back in the day you had to look on the box or on the PC itself to get some sort of product key, but after a doing a bit of research I found that these days they build the product key straight onto the motherboard so there is not really a need to go and look for the product key.

Is there a real solution to stop these notifications or get this "activating windows" thing resolved? Much help would be appreciated, thanks!

I think it needs to communicate with the KMS host to activate. It should still come with a product key sticker. I would take it back to the store if you have no product key.

It still needs to be registered on line.Go to windows.com to be sure your registered and you can get live online help there.

I had a similar problem a few computers back and it was because I did not register it.
